  1. Re: WAR OF THE MONSTERS ... First of all, the trailer you have up *is* GODZILLA VS GIGAN from 1972. However, to my knowledge, it was never known as WAR OF THE MONSTERS in the US, despite what IMDB suggests (loads of Japanese movies loosely translate to 'war of monsters'). In theatres it was called GODZILLA ON MONSTER ISLAND, on home video (cassette) it was re-titled GODZILLA vs GIGAN, which carried over to all subsequen DVD editions. A far more likely film shown under the WAR OF THE MONSTERS title is GAMERA VS. BARUGON from 1966. The dubbed, syndicated TV print was WAR OF THE MONSTERS, which is also the film found on public domain DVD label "Alpha Video." Plus, Saturday TV was where I was introduced to Gamera, so this is probably what was shown.

Still ... awesome Godzilla trailer you got there.

  2. Also, I would LOVE to see TARZAN AND THE GREAT RIVER. This was the second Tarzan film with Mike Henry from SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT fame, the first being TARZAN AND THE VALLEY OF GOLD. These are not widely available, but can be purchased through Warner Archive for about 20 bucks a pop. Wish i could rent it instead!

  3. Thanks for the tip. I think in the interest of accuracy I'll go back to the microfilm of this date and check both papers to see if there is a better indication of which one played. I'm sure you're assessment is the correct one. You'd know better than me!
